Well, I decided that it's a good thing that music being produced today sucks so much. In the long run this is good. I went into Tower the other day and before I went to Tanzania for Xmas walked out with a Erroll Garner, and a Count Basie CD. Not to say, that was a compromise, I've got everything else and there isn't one @#$%^&* record besides Tony Bennet's that was recorded this year that was worth a %$(* that I heard. If any one of you can prove me wrong, send me a tape. Unfortunately, here in Tanzania were I'm at right now is really big on Ricky Martin. If Ricky ever comes to Tanzania he'll have a good time 'cause most people here are "Loco" I'm starting to wonder why I'm attracted to such !@#$% up countries. It's certainly not the music. I'm just bitching here, I need to go to some where that has never heard of Ricky Martin. Got any ideas? A few of the recent comments have shaken loose a few dusty food and music memories--the ravioli from Lakeside Deli (still haven't had any that beat them), the greasy burgers at 1/4 burger on Grand Ave (the gourmet alternative to Kwik Way in the early 70's), and that sunny fall morning in 1970 when Kerry Pencovic devoutly lowered the American flag that was flying in front of Piedmont High to half staff when the news broke about the death of Jimi Hendrix--way to go, Pink. Thanks for the memories.

Hey Hairys,
I recently married in your neck of the woods (or Park). Yes, Erica and I 'broke the glass' at the Piedmont Community Center on November the 20th. We truly appreciated seeing so many of our PHS pals all decked out in their best 'Sunday Duds' (I half expected 'wild child' to show up in his Troup 11 decor..)! Thanks to everyone who showed, I'll reflect upon our occasion forever, (including the beer run to Convenient!). PS. Ken Maas is one helluva DJ, we could've danced all night!

Lefty! Last night my kids broke out the video of A Charlie Brown Christmas...and for those of you still who can remember the first one--1965 was its first showing on the tube. Next time you are in the bay area you'll have to come by and play a little for my kids--by the way the oldest one (now 10) started playing the drums. OH MY! Thank goodness he does not have to have a Pete Best autograph set of Ludwig drums...just has this little thing about as big as a frisbee to whack on for now. Had a Bob Cabrera sighting over the weekend too. That won't get you much but heyyyy! Will have to try to catch Phil on the night shift...might have heard him the other night when I was driving home from Kelseyville where I completed my 18th year of high school football officiating. margaret, no, lydia pense sang with cold blood; linda tillery (late of bobby mcferrin's "voicestra") sang with the loading zone. she shared the lead vocal duties with larry faurerso, the organ player. actually, linda did not make it to the piedmont high gig. larry sang all the lead vocals that day. i remember them being so drugged-out looking on stage in the old auditorium...the drummer swayed like stevie wonder, but with his eyes wide open in an acid-stare! yeowwwww...

Lefty...Piedmont High School was once the cultural hub of the arts in the 1960s--in 1965 at the Jr. High dance, the Beau Brummels actually appeared doing their classic renditions of Laugh, Laugh and the great "Still in Love With You Baby" which I think Hank Moreira and Carl Borden covered a few years later. In 1969 at the Junior Prom, The Syndicate of Sound also came on by PHS and played more than once (hey, they were one-hit wonders) "Hey, Little Girl". I know this because after asking about six girls to go and being shot down each time, I got a report from Jay Carlson or Doug Jones on wha' happened! Also during the 1964-1965 year, we had an assembly where the Vince Guaraldi Trio graced us in their pre-Charley Brown days with "Cast Your Fate to the Wind". That must have been how I got my start in Rock Trivia. For those who really are into obscure trivia, if you ever listened to KGO and the Ronn Owens show on Friday nights in the 80s, you got to hear yours truly as a co-host with essentially worthless knowledge of Rock Trivia--ME!

Dear Jeff, Here is a reconstruction of the post that was lost while Mike and cronies were working to better the site. First, to the location of Justin Baldwin, as I stated, he has traded in (ha ha) his stockbroker title for a vineyard. I did some research and found that he may still be in Paso Robles, CA, and have a phone and address if you want to try it. About the "rocker" guys: Clay Cotton was the best of the lot, moving on to play with many, many of the best known groups and artists of the 60's & 70's. Clay recently sent me a tape he cut that was just great, as always, with his Boogie style still at the head of the class. As to fond memories of the Sweet Shop, Hamby's and Springman's Pharmacy being revisited, I stated that my most cherished culinary memories were based around Kwik Way (39 cent double burgers and the greasiest, most wilted fries on the face of the earth), the Hof Brau, with midnight runs for roast beef on a french roll, turkey dressing with gravy and coleslaw, and the great deli subs from the Lakeshore deli. I could go on, but I would like to hear from others as to their favorite places, i.e. Smoke House, Confucious (may Bing and his Singapore Slings rest in peace!), and LaVals Pizza Garden (great ham sandwiches on humongous french rolls). How about yours??

Mike and Kim....thanks for the memories. In our old age, we can refer to this site! And love the Chevron stories. Now let's start another memory: if you knew Francis Heath, then you might have been a Bishop. If you were, then you fondly remember the HUGE village, and I mean village, that was built in my parent's backyard. Remnants remained for years, and the huts were a great place to play as a kid. And speaking of candy....I remember that at Hamby's, they had these drawers full of candy under the cash registers. A kid's dream. And who can forget Cherry Phosphate soda's at the Sweet Shop? Can't get those anymore (is it safe to drink phosphate?)Also, what of Phillips 66...the other gas station...where a bank now sits? Yep, Piedmont has definitely changed from when we were kids. Oh, and to Conrad,my brother Rob was great at jumping really high. Good for catching passes... And broke his arm while doing his big jump and getting illegally tackled (he knows the details). And I think Francis taught me that one finger salute as a kid, too. But we didn't call him Francis in school...he had a nickname...what was it?

For Doug and the others...this Friday night is a regular Piedmont High game and I just happened to have it on my regular officiating schedule. I heard it is homecoming, though. Last week I was at El Cerrito High School and before that at Campolindo, etc. Piedmont versus DeLaSalle? Don't count on it for awhile but the PHS frosh team coached by Mike Humprhies has had them on the schedule in the not too recent past. As you know, DeLaSalle has the longest prep football winning streak in history and it continues every week. I officiated in Connecticut for a few years and in 1995 I actually officiated the first loss of a team that had the second longest ongoing streak (after DeLaSalle.) Exciting game before several thousand people. Sorry Kim to hear about that broken leg, but I do remember that--you'd do anything to get out of Orognen's PE classes and not having to run "The Loop." Also, that Safeway in Piedmont used to sell more candy than any other Safeway at the time. I also believe they had more candy and beef jerky heisted than any other store. All of those signs all over the world that say" NO MORE THAN 3 STUDENTS AT A TIME ALLOWED" probably originated in Piedmont right after junior high lunch time and a visit to that Safeway by Jim Hardy and Jed Magee. And where is Hosea "Brad" Turman when we need him?

The nice old lady from Hamby's office was named Sybil.
She always needed help getting down the steps and all most all of us that worked there helped her, starting with the owners; Harry & Mary Sund, the manager Harold,Goofy Norman Fosberg, Barney & Denny Pierpont, George & Russ Heblack, Leonard the butcher (gave free hotdogs to kids that ate them raw) and myself.
Yes she drove a car. A blue 1958 Olds 98 4 door with a big V-8 and it was a 3 speed stick, column shift !!! True !
The car always drove away looking as if there were no driver as she sighted her aim through the steering wheel.
Then there was Paulson Chevron owned by a good guy named Paul Paulson who spent most afternoons at Bud's Bar (now the Kings X)with many other Piedmonters. Paulson had a little pattern on some Fridays of too much at Bud's and would come screaming into his gas station, lock up the brakes and slide through the pumps, jump out and unlock the cash box and grab all there was. He would then yell at his mechanics, Babe, Leo Kraft(still has a garage off Grand Ave) or me: IF MY WIFE CALLS, TELL HER I WENT UP THE HILL (Tahoe) !
Then his 1956, green Chevy 265 V-8, 3 speed would try to break all speed records out of town with a badly slipping clutch and a smoky motor. You had to be there ?

But wait. If Mike didn't post this, then ... someone else did, and it might not be a joke! Ye gods. Maybe I'd better get out my Gertrude Stein concordance, and see if this is a real quote. Or maybe I could just call Killian, Hutchinson, Courtouis, or Teter. (BTW: Conrad Bassett, could you tell us more about this football game. Is there really some alumni event, or are you just refereeing a regular game? And when is Piedmont going to schedule De la Salle?) The name of the old pharmacy (mentioned below) next to Hamby's was Springman's. And does anyone remember the old woman who shopped at Hamby's who could not stand up straight? And she drove a car! She was very kind, but after all of these years, I don't recall her name. Apparantly, she had a severe case of arthritis. And please, Mr. Ludlow, no bugs from out of state! Having been an anti-pesticide activist for 8 years, I know that if one sneaky pest arrives from out of state, the Ag community will use millions of additional chemicals in an attempt to wipe out the pesky critter. Our kids don't need anymore exposure to this stuff (no profanity, please!). And, hey, if someone illegal should make it to your state of Oregon, then it will be your state tax dollars that are used for their benefit, not the depleted supply of funds used for this purpose in Calif--funds the federal government will not repay! I want to say a lot more because of other comments, but suffice it to say, after teaching in the local schools and living in an agricultural area, I have a lot of emotion about all of the subjects! As much as I love a debate, or to stir up trouble, this won't be one of those times! Loch Moy!

Oh my...when I was one of the inaugural visitors to this site several years ago, all we talked about was the immaturity, carefreeness (is that a word?), and nostalgia of what was then and what we all probably wish was now. Many of us are 46 going on 17 and would like to keep it that way. Hey, look at me. This Friday night I am starting and will play all 48 minutes at a Piedmont High football game. And other than semi-regular visits to the Witter Field gridiron I have made as a football official the last 20 years, I will play more minutes this Friday night than I did in four years there in the 1960s! The field is new and quite a place and the Friday night lights in Piedmont do live on forever. Every time I step on that field I remember that night in 1968 when Hank "the turtle" Moreira stepped back to pass, avoided an onslaught of St. Elizabeth behemoths and lofted a semi-spiral into the air that I reeled in only to be caught from behind at the ten yard line after a 35 yard gain. I never made it to the end zone then, still dream about it now, and thankfully as I am the back judge this week against Richmond High, will be there again. Now I know why Mike Moreira wants to be named Conrad. I thought it was because of Conrad Menudiado. I feel better now. Well, now that we have squared away this website with the proper tone, I look forward to Friday night in uniform at old PHS...noting that boosters like Dean Miller and Griff Adams will be there and I will be the starter...only took 30 years. Hey Coach Muenter...do I have any eligibility left?

This last post must be a joke (although I was slow to get it). First, it lauds honesty and bravery in trumpeting one's beliefs, yet it is anonymous. Second, it implicitly supports Mr. Ludlow's remarks about "illegals," yet it praises the concept of "one world," i.e., a world without borders, and hence without "illegals." Finally, it concludes with an incomprehensible quotation from Gertrude Stein (or am I being redundant?). If this is not a joke, I think Anonymous is no true Hairy. There is no hair there. Fess up, DuFloth.

What's with the attack on Ludlow? On the eve of the new millenium, it's time to shed the bleeding-heart liberalism of the 60's (the Great Society be damned) and the self-indulgent money-grubbingism of the 80's (Piedmont as Reaganville?) and encourage and tolerate individual expression, free speech, one world, clean environment, healthy relationships, and the new politics of honesty, integrity, and consititutional rights. At least Ludlow is willing to call a spade a spade (no apology offered) and not feel guilty. In the words of Gertrude Stein, "Do you begin to see how here and there they are to be not where they were, although some are where they were, but others not."

Hey Brian McCarthy, how are your Piedmont Alum Networking opportunities working out? I hear Blake Wong still smokes in the Park, daily! Does 'Wild Child' Warren Mackey still chew Hagen? FYI, 'Tycoon' Mike Cunningham just purchased Guam (10 year lease) and Lou Morgan joined the Krishna's....only to quit when they told him he could no longer sell Annuities. I recently discovered Chris Ames' smirking mug on the cover this month's issue of 'Thailand Today.'
PS: Has anyone been to the Piedmont Coliseum this year? Same old lawn!

I have had some ideas for the PHS Class of 1975 25th reunion for months now, but I don't know whom to contact to get the ball rolling. I want to do a lot of work on this, but without a clue where everyone is or even who would know this information, I'm dead in the water. If you have a better clue, please let me know or pass this on. Thanks. (By the way, Karen Appeldorn referred me to this site.)

Dear Mike,
Fortunately for me, I have only a few insecurities. The reference to present day Piedmont as "Little Asia" was a term used by THOSE WHO LIVE THERE! I was just passing along the observation. In fact, totally coincidentally (and I swear it's true) I personally helped an elderly Asian lady off of my aunts front steps where she had evidently collapsed from exhaustion while trekking up Magnolia Ave. last Sunday morning. See Doug, I'm OK with old people! And yes, I asked her if she needed a lift. She declined. As to the use of the term "Illegals" used in referring to the inquiries of the esteemed Calif. border staff, wouldn't you agree that their current target is somewhat misguided? I suppose only those citizens looking for jobs and finding them non-existent due to the illegal hiring practices and greed by some employers would agree with me. And I suppose that those taxpayers footing the bill for the vast array of "services" received by the 40+% of the California agricultural workforce represented by illegal workers probably don't even notice the added cost to their tax bill each year or the loss of tax revenues caused by these workers. In fact, even the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals jumped in by recently ruling that illegal immigrants working for U.S. employers can legally vote in union elections. Go figure! If we're going to see cars stopped for a state to state check, let's be thorough about it and check for any and all contraband, including people. I was just trying to call a spade a spade. Oops, sorry!
Finally, if you really want something to fuss about, know that at this time a team of senators, Diane Feinstein included, are thumping the halls to pass a nationalized worker registration system. This is the first step in creating a national worker I.D. system aimed at reducing the number of "Illegal" workers in our country. These I.D. cards will include your photo, fingerprints and retina scans. Scary, huh? Sorry if my choice of words was offensive.

Well Doug,
In the true spirit of Highlander Hairyness I guess we will allow, even encourage the polarizing debates to occur. Go for it and enjoy knowing you won't be harassed at lunch or trudging up the PE hill but can participate from the safety of your own home. So, ... if you've got a problem with some of Ludlow's comment ....... THRASH HIM! ... prey upon his insecurities and let's see if he collapses under the pressure and into a personality crisis just as we would have hoped for in High School or see if he boldly responds defending his position.

Uh, Mike, I agree with Mr. Ludlow of Medford that we all owe a debt to you for the site, but do you have any suggestions on how to avoid the polarizing debate that usually follows when we start seeing references like "little Asia" and "illegals" on the Internet? (If I am misunderstanding the reference to "little Asia," perhaps Mr. Ludlow will forgive me and explain.)

I am really happy to see some folks I can realte to (pre-Hairy) putting in an appearance here. I have really enjoyed hearing from some of my former classmates and would like to thank Mike for making the site available to us. Specifically, I would like to thank my dear friend Clay Cotton for contacting me and rekindling my interest in playing some music again, I've really missed it!
This past weekend, I had the opportunity to return to the Bay Area again, enjoy the garbage encrusted freeway system, and enjoy a reunion of sorts with some old business associates. While there, I bunked with my aunt (Daphne Hamilton - Ron's mom) who is now 87, doing well, and living on the corner of El Cerrito and Magnolia. She and my uncle bought the house some 50+ years ago for $25,000. Along with cousin Ron and his son, I toured the new track and field facilities at the high school. I have to say it is one of the nicest I have ever seen, including Hayward Field in Eugene at UofO. Unfortunately, the hill is still where the hill always was, and is still uphill on the way back. Piedmont, or "Little Asia" as my aunt and her friends now call it, seems to be about the same, or as close to the same as you can get given 35 years. The only real exception I noted was the '57 Chevies were replaced by '97 BMW's. The kids I saw all looked pretty normal as kids go today, although they were obviously deprived of the Sweet Shop, Hambys and the drug store I never bothered to go into. No steps to sit on and watch your friends zoom by. No football games on the lawn across the street. I do have a question or two for those still residing in California: Now and again I will enter the state from Oregon only to be accosted by your Vegetable & Fruit Border Guards. I can understand why these people don't want any more vegetables in the state (I don't like them either!), but why would they care if I brought another fruit in? Why don't they take the time to check my trunk for illegals who put more of a dent in the economy than a few pesticide resistant, disease ridden bugs might. Keep this site going, keep it interesting to all the alums, and above all, encourage some new blood to put in their two cents worth.

Lefty Gimbal!
Remember that most of us completed Mr. Gerrits' 7th grade Geography class back about 35 years ago. Since that time, most of the countries have had name changes, Mt. St. Helens' blew its top, and earthquakes have changed the boundaries of some river some where. I was actually more into Form B than A and yes, I did write it more than a few times. However, those brain cells associated with form writing died off after finishing a few kegs of beer after the Coors Cup with Duncan back in 1982 or so. They probably have a few copies of that document in the archives at PHS. Don't know if anyone is still there from back in 1965 or if Elwood C. is looking up or down at the grass at this time. There were reports back then that he was more interested in seventh grade boys than he was at looking up Mrs. Gibson's (the English teacher) skirt. In fact, he pushed for barracading that crawlspace from Mr. Switzer's wood shop to the back of the girl's gym changing room so that there would be more guys on time for his class upstairs rather than oogling the ladies changing from their PHS regulation gym suits.

In light of Jeff Baumgartner's comment below, I'm wondering whether we should start a separate site for "guys ignored by Karen Ruxton." BTW, I now have my directory of the class of '74 (from Jan Hjorth), and I thought people who haven't seen it might appreciate the suggestion by Chris Svendsgaard regarding the questionnaire sent to everyone. Chris listed his own category of "questions you should have asked but didn't," including "hair" (presence or absence? current color?); "weight" (number of pounds added or lost since high school); and "regrets" (things you did in high school and now wish you hadn't, or things you didn't do in high school and now wish you had). In that last category, perhaps many of you can relate to a regret I have: getting unbelievably drunk at a Kappa "liquid lunch" and coming back to hang around the halls on a Friday afternoon, until Coach Parker grabbed me by the shirt and said "Go somewhere else, you disgusting buffoon." Was there more drinking at PHS than at other schools, or less, or about the same? Did this remain constant or change over time? (I know that there was less drinking at Oakland High in the 70's, but probably because people couldn't afford it, so maybe I should limit my inquiry to schools in affluent or semi-affluent neighborhoods.)

My mother, who still lives in the house at the top of Mountain Ave with the japanese garden and still reads the Piedmonter, saw the Aug. 6 article on the HairyNet, snipped it out and sent it to me--so here I am. Last December I visisted Piedmont with my three kids, and walked around the new football field, the "new" high school (didn't they tear down our school in '74?), and made my kids walk straight up the hill (Dormidera, Hagar) to my mom's house--they hated it as much as I used to. I'm glad to see there are others from class of '73 posting comments, especially Kiki Silverstein whose dog bit me on Havens playground back in elementary school (hi Karen). And what ever happened to Karen Ruxton? I gave her a ring in first grade, but that just made her ignore me for the next eleven years.

Karen is right. (See comment below.) Maybe in 2000 the people who want to organize reunions could try this idea. So the 10-year reunion would be the classes of '89,'90, and '91, and the 25-year reunion would be the classes of '74, '75, and '76 (and so on). Organizers could try to get spaces large enough that the three groups could have separate "hubs," but still intermingle freely. Waxdeck groupies could have their own hub or "nest." (Just kidding on that last one, but dead serious on the main idea.)

I remember coming out dead last in the tennis ladder in Miss Bertoloso's P.E. class. That was quite disheartening. Here in Santa Barbara, reunions often include three years of classes. For example, the class of '74 celebrating its 25th reunion could have invited the classes of '73 and '75. Folks get more than one chance to attend a reunion and they get to see more classmates. We need to start doing this with PHS reunions!

Great website! Found out about it at the class of '74 twenty-five year reunion. Thanks Jan! Looking for class of '75 folks. Piedmont was a unique place to grow up. As one classmate put it so succinctly, "You hated going there, but you want your own kids to go to school there..."

Hey Jeff,
This is of a subject you're more likely to get a responce to on the Rob Williams Guest book page. I already had a post on the issue of gun control, a quote from Hitler on gun control in Germany 1938 and how happy he was when it was implimented and Germany would become a model, where only his goons would have guns.I would be glad to address the issue at great length. Re-direct this post to the Rob Guest Book, and I'm sure you will have a very lively commentary going in a few days

Check out WWW.vetothegovernor.org - The state is trying to take away our right to defend our homes etc, which is against the 2nd amendment - only in CA can this crap ever start. Grey Davis has already signed SB 23, effective Jan 1, 2000 which makes you a felon for even owning many rifles/shotguns. I am not a gun nut, but if the citizens are unarmed, the crooks and government could do what ? Florida & Virginia went the other way and armed their citizens with concealed permits if background was OK - their crime has dropped to almost nothing since then. It makes the bad guys afraid. This law is pending unless a referendum is passed by the petition on the web page and all that will do is then put this issue on the March ballot and at least get voted on. We've already lost our rights via Grey Davis even it it is unconstitutional, so there's nothing to lose by getting in this fight, only a hopeful win. This is the first real try to take away our right to defend ourselves - help if you wish - see the page for wasup.....

I am still waiting to have the first beer with my father. My pockets are empty from all the brothels in Nevada and Timmy Phillips had just smoked my last bowl. Mom and dad, please send money. I need a plane ticket to Martin's, your favorite friend. Hey Sampson, get over the whole club ordeal, it's over just like High School and all the year 2000. Oh wait, it is still 1999. When has the time gone, and when is all that noise coming from. To all the people in Piedmont, lighten up and let the kids act their ages. If you look at the older grads and see which ones are where in life, I think for the most of you will be surprised. If you have any concern with my actions, talk to a counseler, it seems like the Piedmont thing to do. Stucken Phone, AT, you know what I mean. Oh yeah, I hope all the skateboarders are all still wearing helmets. God bless you R.C.

Among Frank's last wishes, the lyrics of this song to be posted on the "Hairynet" Why I don't understand, but he must have had his reasons. @SONG: Flakes
Flakes! Flakes!
Flakes! Flakes!
They don't do no good
They never be workin'
When they oughta should
They waste your time
They're wastin' mine
California's got the most of them
Boy, they got a host of them
Swear t'God they got the most
At every business on the coast
Swear t'God they got the most
At every business on the coast
They got the Flakes
Flakes! Flakes!
They can't fix yer brakes
You ask 'em, *"Where's my motor?"*
*"Well, it was eaten by snakes..."*
You can stab 'n' shoot 'n' spit
But they won't be fixin' it
They're lyin' an' lazy
They can be drivin' you crazy
Swear t'God they got the most
At every business on the coast
Swear t'God they got the most
At every business on the coast
*[Take it away, Bob...]*
I asked as nice as I could
If my job would
Somehow be finished by Friday
Well, them whole damn weekend
came 'n' went, Frankie
*[Wanna buy some mandies, Bob?]*
'N' they didn't do nothin'
But they charged me double for Sunday
You know, no matter what you do,
They gonna cheat 'n' rob you
Then they'll send you a bill
That'll get your senses reelin'
And if you do not pay
They got computer collectors
That'll get you so crazy
'Til your head'll go through th' ceilin'
Yes it will!
I'm a moron, 'n' this is my wife
She's frosting a cake
With a paper knife
All what we got here's
American made
It's a little bit cheesey,
But it's nicely displayed
Well we don't get excited when it
Crumbles 'n' breaks
We just get on the phone
And call up some Flakes
They rush on over
'N' wreck it some more
'N' we are so dumb
They're linin' up at our door
Well, the toilet went crazy
Yersterday afternoon
The plumber he says
*Never flush a tampoon!*
This great information
Cost me half a week's pay
And the toilet blew up
Later on the next day-ay-eee-ay
Blew up the next day
WOO-OOO
We are millions 'n' millions,
We're coming to get you
We're protected by unions
So don't let it upset you
Can't escape the conclusion
It's probably God's Will
That civilization
Will grind to a standstill
And we are the people
Who will make it all happen
While yer children is sleepin',
Yer puppy is crappin'
You might call us Flakes
Or something else you might coin us
But we know you're so greedy
That you'll probably join us
We're coming to get you, we're coming to get you
We're coming to get you, we're coming to get you
We're coming to get you, we're coming to get you
We're coming to get you, we're coming to get you...

O.K., now I'll be the third person to ask about a 25th reunion for the class of '74. I missed the 20th so perhaps I'm more curious than those who made it to that one. It's been a while since I last logged on the HairyNet and it's very pleasing to see so many Piedmont High School Hairys are connected to the WWW and are also taking the time to post their comments.
Does anyone remember the night back in 1969 when Deke Ballard from Orinda came to a party at Bill Becket's house and proceeded to beat-up everybody from Piedmont who was there? I can't remember who else was there besides from Hullary Huddleson, who hid in the laundry room with me until all the fighting was over .... it was my duty to protect her ...right? ... other than that all I remember was all the blood all over the place after the fighting from the faces of those that had not found a place to hide from Deke Ballard ......
Oh the memories of my teen years at Piedmont ... they linger on ...

I like my fellow PHS students who have commented recently had the "Shoo" as a teacher in the 95-96 season of PHS highschool. Her knowledge of the history of this fine country made me feel so patriotic that I joined the Marines. Without the Shoo I would have never given this country a chance and would have left for a great nation like Algeria. Her sometimes unprepared presence in class made her seem down to earth and seeing her at the SAT's made me feel at home. From Paris Island South Carloina, Shoo this one is for you.

As a student of Ms. Schumacher's AP History class of '95-'96, I was oft tormented for what many held as my "ultra-liberal," or "communist" beliefs. It seemed everytime I tried to voice one of my opinions, someone from the "corner of death" would label me a "dirty red," a "commy bastard," or worse, a "democrat." Many of the students found it comical to chant, etch likenesses of The Shoo onto their desks and even illustrate complicated historical incidents on the board in the form of real-estate diagrams. My genius was repeatedly overshadowed by veiled threats streaming in from the back of the room. Rarely did I feel safe in that room, and never did I feel comfortable. Diane, wherever you are, you're #1. Boom Shalaka Number One Shoo-Macher...

Not many people know this, but Ms. Schumacher helped me get into Harvard. Every day, that nice lady let me rub her hunch-back for good luck. Thanks, Diane, you have helped me make my dreams come true!

Hello all. As a would have been graduate of the class or '82 I just wanted to know if there is anyone out there from that period. I unfortunatly droped out to join the Marine Corps. It was a good thing that I did, as I would have ended up dead or in jail. Just to quell a few rumors, no I'm not, nor have I ever been gay. (Not that there is anything wrong with that)I am working as an aircraft mechanic here in the state of Maine. I don't do drugs anymore. Been married and divorced. No children thank God. So what has everyone else been up to? I'd like to hear from some people that I knew.

Happy New Year to all Hairys! We've made it this far to see the Millinium Bug and we celebrate those vertical Hairys who didn't believe it was possible. Our time is now. Our generation has aged and moved into the power generation. Hairys no longer have to accept the "blues" but can create and shake the "blues"...Welcome to all Y2K Hairys!! Thank you Exhalted Ruler for your continuous oversite and development of the HairyNet. Cyber classmates of '73, please note my new e-mail address.
