Well, heck...this is a blast! I am blessed with selective memories, fortunately, of all the lurid moments of my time in Piedmont...from Wildwood, to PJHS to be a real Highlander. Nice to see so many familiar names, some of which I attended school from Wildwood on. Happiest Holiday of Your Choice to one and all, hope to check in here just a bit more often!

As always Conrad .. you are too kind ..For the Record: I have nothing but fond memories of my years at Piedmont Jr. and Senior High schools, and I just consider myself the caretaker, of what my twisted sense of humor tells me is for the "sake of posterity" ... in time .. I'm hopeful that some up and comer whipper snapper from this century will take the reins and hold down the fort for years to come. In the meantime, I'm destined to be the keeper of, "tall tales of the glory days of our youth'" growing up in beautiful Piedmont, California ... and I'll continue to do my very best to serve our long standing tradition of "Hairy Lawn Camaraderie." ... thanks for remembering the "Hairy Lawn News" print version Conrad. Best to you and your family this Holiday Season

As always all of us who perues this site and stay in touch with other brethren of the hairy variety...hats off to Brother Mike DuFloth who has allowed us and encouraged us to have this forum. I think that this must be going on nearly ten years along with the in print Hairy News that preceded it. Not too shabby. Thanks Mike!

Steve where do you live? We have a small place in Bisbee, do you know where that is? Some where in the southwest.
If it is me (the mystery person is referring to) committing felonious acts ..... I have committed a few, all non violent possible drug/motor vehicle related and it was a while ago. It is what has molded us into what we are today. I will be the first to stand up and talk about it as I am not ashamed about a thing in my past. Especially the many years coast to coast in the wind !

Stuart AND Mike, Amen to that! What is your name? Identify yourself!! Who are these "perpetrators" that you claim actually exist. Your implied accusations are randomly, and haphazardly, offered. Come forth, AND BE HEARD!!!!

As the PiedmontHigh.com bulletin board moderator and self-appointed Exalted Ruler of the Hairy Lawn Brotherhood I am compelled to comment here. I suggest to all of you, that the long standing tradition of snobbery, and the hazing of our fellow classmates is not only acceptable, but also encouraged.
It speaks to the very essence of this web site and it's irreverent look back at our Piedmont High School DAZE

Thin-skinned PHS grads should proceed with caution.

Happy Holidays to all PHS Hairy Lawn Brothers and Sisters!

If you are too "chicken" (what a word) to sign your name, then your comments really do not matter do they? They have no value. Nothing here is degraded except the anonymous comment from someone who belongs here, they answered the questions to get here. Peace and love to all through the holiday season! Stuart, My name.

I was walking around my store thinking about the names on the Steve Main entry thinking about my past. Jim Johnson, I went to Wildwood the PJH. with Jim. Somewhere he went into an elevator????? Was he straight and just committing an act of vanilization (taking the OTIS name plate) or was he on acid and having a superhero experiance? He went in as Jim and came out as OTIS! There were so many characters in the park, so many personalities. So much fun!

As I read through the list of people bellow, I do not remember them (the people on the list) just smoking in the park, then moving over to the hairy lawn? That is because it was not that simple. They did not want to. I agree there were some bad memory people!! ---- them! I don't remember seeing the people on the list at the clubbie events????? Or the hairy lawn either. I pride myself as a parkie that moved into the world of HORSEPOWER. I only crossed over for a bit because of my brothers that were bid into the Rigmas. They pulled me into that too. I never left the park. I went by last year and boy is that big park seem small. One of my favortes!!! Orr Boy!!!! I love you!!!!! Mr. Reinhardt, You should have done what we did!!! Ditch Narvison as we did in our rides! Love and peace to all. If you were one of those people that picked on people because you thought you were a big shot, look around your life?? I bet Karma has caught up with you. Doug Azavedo, Day or night for 6 years in his Bug rain or shine in front of the park. Hi Kathy.

Let's try that with commas...Weasel, Otis, Duncan McCollum, Dave Robles, Rudy ( and his sidekick that resembled Dr. Gonzo, in the trashed Chevelle), Dave Robles, John Fisher, Parsons...here's a couple more: Danny Svensgaard, Dana Rugaard, Chris Berg, Helen Cummings, Bill Gahan, and let's not forget Jeff Dreher of the famed pair of nines buck'em hand. Oh, what fond memories of the park!

Head Parkie of the 75-77 era had to be Shawnn Bonnington. Brother Darren B was in my class. Parkies were often Rigmas too. Bonnington is a prime example. Hey Shawn or Darren, if youre out there email me. All these years and were still thinking? Parkie, Jock or Clubbie? come on now, let's move on. Cheers, Loomis Jock, Clubbie, general shit disturber!!

I believe that Mr.Reinhard has a little different view of the "parkie". I can name countless Clubbies that never entered the park, if they smoked or not. I can name infinate number of "parkies" that were never invited to join a club, of which they did not want to join. You can just look right down this list and see one really close that did not want to club around. My time (I was younger than Mr. Reinhard) Parkie award would go to, Doug Azavedo. Not to forget Billy Taylor / Mark Phillips, Myself, Hunt Dennis. We too had some real jerks too!! John Fischer, I hope he got run over by a Mac Truck. From my 7th grade on he was there every day & night. I do not remember seeing Bill in the park at all during my six years. Peace and love to all!!! Keep the rubber side down!

A Parkie was a person who had to move to the Hairy Lawn because Narvison would run us out of the park. A parkie and a hairy were considered the same.... after graduation you would be acknowledged as a "HAIRY". Who knows where the spot to hang and smoke was before we migrated to the park. One more question.......This is a question poll.... Who would all of you say was the person or persons you felt always hung in the Park more than anyone else, before and after school hours? Later

In my day a hairy was not a parkie!!! As far back as I can remember. The dam jocks, socialites, WASP'Y kids were the hair lawn / clubby folks. There were a few of us that fell into both categories. Being a muscle car, clubby that came out of the park. Thank god we never lost our parkie statis! There were a few of us in 1970 to 1974 as I remember. Otherewise Parkies were on their own. The clubbys' were jerks to most of them. In the long run those people were the real jerks! Happy Thanksgiving!

Is a hairy pretty much the same as a parkie? You know I got a job at a big law firm and turned out one of the hiring partners was a piedmont alum. I couln't help but ask him: "were you a jock, a nerd, or a parkie?" and he said "definately a parkie"... We are everywhere! If any of you all make it to Vegas, definately look me up! After getting a 30th reunion invite, which was great suprise, I browsed the net and found your site, a even greater suprise. for my time at piedmont was short, came there my junior year and drop out after half of my senior year, I feel more of an alumi of the lawn then the school, for I spent just as much time there getting " educated". I was not going to attend the reunion, same old excuses, time, travel, no true friends would be there, but your Hairy Net has inspired me to re-think these plans. IF there are any class Hairy's mates of the lawn who are considering attending the 30th reunion, I would like to here from you.

It looks like it is time again for my pilgramage back over the hill to PHS and the football field. Again, I will be the referee for the JV and Varsity football games--this time against Justin-Siena on September 23. Again I will have the opportunity to spend all 48 minutes of playing time on the field which is within a minute or two of all of the playing time I had from the 1966 through 1969 seasons in total. It is always nice to go back...although the grass is gone and the locker room is history, the setting is certainly nice and usually I have the opportunity to come across Griff Adams on the Video crew, perhaps Dean Miller coaching the linemen. Mark Delventhal coaching the chain crew, and other assorted former Piedmonters who never left town. If you attend, certainly don't be bashful to come down and say hi between games or at halftime unless you want to gripe that the officials can't see anything...then just register your protest on-line at www.zebrascantsee.com!

Pressman, Gimbal...you boys are the best and I love you guys. You got that right on BB King and "Lucille"...he is a demi-GOD. Kim, Scott you guys along with Dunc and Beck, were the soul of the T-Birds. Do me a favor and scroll to the 1st email...look at January 1, 2004 and you will get a real kick at my 1st comment in HairyNet Guest book. OK boys I am whipping out the Duke... I will Google the Duke and hope to get the words. You boys let me know if we are having a practice at Hank's garage in San Ramon...cause I ain't going out in front of the classes of '70, '71 and '72 without one practice. Hell, they know US! Kim, I will let Saylor know about you and Dufloth...and Hank, great story on the drums. I remember those drums too!! Later bros, keep on rockin and say hi to Kent, Duncan, Dan and Bowhay for me. Hello all... it's been so long since I've been out here checking out the latest on this, our vaunted PHS hairy website. M. Dufloth continues to do a service to all of us by hosting this forum. Fred... tell Saylor I said 'hey' and that Dufloth and I sailed the Greek Islands a couple years ago...to all of you from the classes of 70,71,72... it should be a rockin' good time next year at our combined reunion...!!

Hank, oh boy....I guess I will bring out the Duke but if I see tomatoes, fruits and veggies heading my way, I am back to Bowhay's right side doing the do-waps and Book of Love movements!!Let me know if there is a T-Bird practice, like we use to do at Beck's house. God knows I need it!! And yes, you tell the rest of the Birds that I drink more than one beer at a time! T-Birds rule. Hey Zooker, say hi to Amy for me and keep ALL OF US posted on the reunion. Fred, I haven't been to this site in a long time and it's ironic seeing you're posting right at the top. So sorry to hear about John Soares. I remember him quite well and he was a really nice guy. Speaking of Saylor, I bought my first drum set from him in the mid 70s for $200! It was a classic Ringo-style Ludwig kit and it's set up in my Mom's attic in Piedmont just waiting for someone to play it. Regarding the T-Birds, of course you can play with us; once a T-Bird, always a T-Bird. But I don't think background is enough; we need you to sing lead on "Duke Of Earl". According to Zook Sutton's posting, the joint reunion is June 2006, so you better get your get your vocal chords in shape.......

Aloha all This is Fred Rubio and I am semi retired and live part time with my family on the island of Kauai. Jim Saylor and his fam live here too. We also reside in Los Gatos, CA. I just wanted to share with my class the passing of one of my dearest friends John Soares. He died on June 29, 2005 here in Kauai. Jim, John and I saw BB KIng at the Kauai Marriott 2.5 years ago. Great tunes and times. He was in the Kapas with John and I. Anyway, he will be missed by John and I and all those who got to know him. He was great! It is nice to hear that a reunion is being planned with the classes of '71 and '73. I hope we can pull it off. I was one of the orginal T'Birds and would love to sing background with Bowhay on my left....if they will have me. We knew how to put on a real show in '71 and it would be a blast to sing one more time. HOpe all is well with everyone and I hope we can meet at the reunion. Mahalo Nui, Fred

Hi fellow classmates! My name is Linda Castle and I put in an entry back in early 2004. I love to vist this site as I have to get my Piedmont High fix once in awhile. I live in Montclair (have been here for about 24 years). I used to live up at the north shore of Tahoe for 10 years. I work at Montclair Sports. My husband and I love to visit Tahoe (our place is at Brockway Shores). We are hoping to retire early...and I think we just might do it!! I have to say that I had a wonderful time at Piedmont High. Hope to hear from anyone who may have attended our crazy Castle parties on Waldo Ave. Please feel free to e-mail me! Linda Castle Lorentzen

Wow, Fat Frank Kramer... He had this 57 chevy pickup with a 327 in it. When it got going about 95 mph on Monterey Blvd, frontage road to 13, the whole truck would shake until you thought you were going to die.. I was too young and stupid to stop riding in that death trap...glory days!!

In fact I got my first "23109" in 36 years of driving and riding last summer and beat the rap! That's awesome! We did get to grow up in a great car time. I loved the Lotus Cortina. Name from the past, Frank Kramer multiple awesome car owner. He must of had financial help. Coming from our poor hood. See you all.

How could I forget Dave .... the "weekend road wars of 1969" ... where a veritable smorgasbord of foreign sports cars would rally together taking the big turn on Lincoln Ave. ... as fast as we could ... Suzette Romer would stand on the corner and wave us thru if there was no traffic coming down the hill, and then we would take the turn as fast as we could on the inside lane. I would get my 62 Austin Healy Sprite in the third gear doing about 45 MPH and would take the turn sideways ... and right behind me was Dale Zenor in his TR3, Roger White in his Dad's Porsche Boxster, Tom Porter in his 60 Mini Cooper, Robert Mims in his yellow MGB convertible and the infamous John McCarthy in his Sunbeam Tiger. ... oh my ... those were the days weren't they? ... Crazy wild boys and their toys. .... Unfortunately, I'm clinging on to the hope that my son Joe doesn't do as I did, but does as I say. .... which is wishful thinking at best I know, because he's a chip off the old block and pays close attention whenever I speak of the "Good Old Daze" of High School in Piedmont, CA.

Best cars of the 70's. My brother Tom had a bitchin Lotus Cortina. Still, I was in love with Bob Farwells bright orange 383 Plymouth Road runner. I was so imprinted by his Red 72 Dodge power wagon, that 5 years ago I bought one of my own and drive it around Tahoe intimidating all the new SUV people...They give me plenty of room. Any one else remember the coolest cars at PHS?

Just a reminder a year out that the Class of 71 is having a 35th reunion in June of '06. Does anyone have any comments or preferences? The way we left it at 5 am at my house after the 30th was that we'd take over the Veteran's Hall again, have the T-Birds play and invite the classes of 70 and 72. Of course, that was 5 am talk. Any new thoughts for it? Carl Borden, are you out there? Also, very sorry to hear about Gary Keene. As an underclassman he seemed to be about the coolest hairy ever.

Hello Class of '75. Found this site quite by accident trying to track down an article in June 05'Backpacker magazine about my brother, Bob. There are a few of us hiding out in Northern California (Eureka Area). Tracy (Nelson) and I will have been married 24 years as of July '05. We have a son, Jeff, 15. Jim Bent, married, 2 great kids, is also in Arcata, and Eureka harbors Stefan (Steve) Vaughan and his wife. I've also glimpsed Charlie Henshaw? around town many years ago, but not recently. Anyone else up this way we don't know about? Will there be a 30 year reunion?

Ok I quit reading when the porn popped up. They have porn bots on the Hairynet??? (NOT) This cracks me up cause it seems they hunt you down no matter where you hide. Now onto the important stuff. First I want to say hey to my best friend ever in Florida. She seemed to have weathered the storms well even though she did call me hiding under her bed....lolol....I love you CLFP!!!!!! What's up with the reunion this year??? I see lots of people asking but no one responding in here. Wonder if everyone is waiting for me to start it...lol...keep waiting because I look forward to being a participant and not the organizer. I will be glad to lend a hand if needed of course.
I just want to come see some familiar "old" faces and do some serious reminiscing of all the beers we drank and the people we kissed when at Piedmont High. Please let us all know when something comes about so we can be there!!!!
