Class of 47 and Kapa. This site is too big for even a retired persons time. Is there any way to segregate by graduation years? Will probably come back to my real home - the Sierra's, so would like to reconnect.

I made my annual pilgramage to Piedmont last Friday night to officiate a football game and it is always fun to return to the alma mater. I saw Griff Adams who was ably handling video production, Mark Delventhal, who was making sure the veteran chain crew did not miss a beat, John C(Trailer) Cullom who is doing some coaching, and, of course, Bob Muenter, who was up in the press box checking things out. As the back judge in the game, one of my duties was to check with the time keeper to make sure they had it all together and as she was sitting next to Coach Bob, I had to check in. Still the same stories as 30+ years ago, and you know, they are still the best. I would have hung around for more but had to get back down onto the carpet to officiate. Both teams behaved for the most part and I got to spend all 48 minutes on the field which is more than I did in 4 years playing FB at PHS. Who else is playing offense, defense, and special teams at age 49???!!!

PHS sightings...was reading the Silicon Valley Business Ink and there was a feature on Joann Zimmerman (PHS '71) in a recent article. At least some of us have become successful. Also for those in the Orlando area, my son Christopher's basketball team, the Oakland Rebels, will be competing at the AAU National championships for 10 and Under after sweeping the Pacific championships in Sacramento in April. There will be close to 100 top teams from all over the country competing so I expect Chris Cuyler to make an appearance if no one else. Chris (my son, not Cuyler) is a solid 4'9" point guard who unselfishly dishes off lots of passes to his teammates who have not met a shot they did not want to take (welcome to basketball at Bushrod in Oakland). Thank goodness they make a lot of them...the team is 75-7 this year and the only losses have been to 11 and 12 year old teams.

i would like to say, from myself, and as a spokesperson for the T-Birds, that it is very sad that i have learned of the death of John Entwistle from brother T-Bird Kim "stix" Gimbal. he was a major inspiration to us all...and he is deeply missed already. i remember myself and a feew notable classmates enjoying the who at winterland (maybe fillmore?...alot of water under the bridge...) and then reposing to rosss gohl's pool room, where i belive i spent what was left of the night, on the pool table, in some form of "sleep". that was the night they played tommy, then unheard of , complete...the days of waking dreams...entwistle, a giant among bass players, including our own, Bass Beck, Kim Gimbal, and Carl Borden...they are his legacy, as are we all, from Piedmont High , class of 71...someone just asked me where was i during the summer of love? if my memory serves me well, i was in the park in piedmont, and on haight st. ..probably golden gate park...listening to the greatest music of all time...including the who.....

Hello to all, Let's not forget those who have not made the trip with us. Rembering Bob Richter, A short story about how he became my friend. I was working as the Projectionist at the Telegraph Rep Cinema. I often rode my Bicycle from Berkeley along College to Pleasant valley. On one such 2:00 am Ride I lost my wallet. The Next day I got a call and it was Bob Richter, he had found my wallet and gave it back to me. Seems like a simple decent thing to do, but I had come from a previous environment where such humanity was quite rare. South Bronx New York City. I recall this simple act often and it is one of those moments in life which has actually made a more honest and honorable man. This is the small part of Bob Richter which lives within me and I will carry this with me for as long as I live. I hope he touched others in such a way as to live with us until the class of 71 is only the memories of those we have touched. Enrique LaRoche

Thanks to who ever it was that started the chain of events that put me in contact with Randy and Court Harper. Small world we live in now! Randy just called me from Maui on vacation and I will be hooking up with him and his wife this weekend to go look at some land. Court is coming over to the Big Island in June so will take a trip over there and see him and a few friends that own water falls on the Hamakua Coast. Hopefully there will be some waves while Court is here so I can pull out the remote control shark fin and scare the *hit out of him for putting gun powder in that joint that almost blew off my head 32 years ago.... very funny. Note: 32 years relative to Earth's inertial frame of reference, not the trip I took;-) John^^
